Atrax Group baggage weighing systems are live at the world’s newest and largest airport.
Atrax passenger baggage weighing systems are now in full operation at the new Istanbul Airport, which will connect to more than 300 destinations and handle over 200 million travellers when all phases are complete.
Atrax Group founder and CEO Kevin Maurice says the new Istanbul Airport is the most significant BOT (build, operate, transfer) project in the history of Turkey.
“It has the potential to become the largest single terminal airport in the world, and we’re absolutely delighted to be a key part of a truly state of the art baggage
handling solution,” he says.
“Our exclusive selection as the sole supplier of the baggage weighing elements of the solution is a significant win for Atrax. The deal further cements our market leadership in the international airport baggage weighing market segment.”
The new Istanbul Airport has 468 check-in positions, each with an Atrax baggage scale. In addition, Atrax is supplying air cargo scale components for the largest cargo terminal at Istanbul Airport, owned by Turkish Air.
The prime contractor for the complete baggage handling solution is Vanderlande Industries BV of The Netherlands. Atrax and Vanderlande have a long history of success in Turkey, supplying solutions for numerous airport projects around the country. Key elements in the selection of Atrax, Kevin Maurice says, include the long history of successful projects involving Atrax and Vanderlande, the proven reliability of the Atrax systems, and a local service agent to provide a rapid response calibration and support service.
